Tasting notes
The 2017 Barbaresco Asili is a sexy, open-knit wine that can be enjoyed with minimal cellaring. Macerated cherry, spice, blood orange, mint, cedar and sweet pipe tobacco all meld together. Even in this warm, dry vintage, the 2017 Asili retains its signature classicism.

Aromas of strawberries and cherries with earth and sweet-spice undertones. Itâs medium-to full-bodied with chewy tannins and bright acidity. Serious and focused with juicy character on the mid-palate. Flavorful finish with excellent length. Drink after 2023.
Barbaresco. Tasted blind. Just mid ruby. Deep, brooding nose. Perfumed cherry fruit and just the merest suggestion of oak, although this has only seen large casks. Succulent cherry palate with quite firm tannins and a big dose of acidity. A little austere on the finish, but this is still very young, and a little drying on the finish, yet long and multi-layered and embryonic. Age will give it the final polish. (WS)
