This is also very fresh with its combination of smoky mineral reduction, Granny Smith apple, acacia and lemon rind. The succulent, delicious and caressing middle weight flavors conclude in a stony, bone-dry and highly refreshing finish that is supported by bright citrus-tinged acidity. This chiseled effort is going to need at least a few years of patience as it's tightly wound today.

Unfurling in the glass with aromas of peach, nutmeg and white flowers, the 2023 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Pitangerets is medium to full-bodied, satiny and fleshy, with a charming, expressive core of fruit, lively acids and a mouthwatering finish.

The 2023 vintage is another success for Thierry Pillot, delivering fleshy but vibrant whites that will offer a broad drinking window. As I've reiterated several times, Pillot is one of a handful of exciting producers who won Chassagne-Montrachet the title of the Côte de Beaune's most dynamic white-wine-producing village today, and as he enters his early 40s, he's reflecting on the next step. His viticulture is already innovative, with canopies trimmed high and, in some cases, managed with "tressage." But the construction of a new winery building below the village will make space for dry goods and bottled wine, allowing him to extend élevages longer in his historic cellars in the heart of Chassagne-Montrachet.(WK)

The 2023 Saint-Aubin Pitangerets has a beguiling stony nose that unfurls in the glass, almost flinty. The palate is well balanced with a taut line of acidity, Granny Smiths mixed with lemon rind, lively and tensile on the bright finish. Excellent.(NM)
