Tasting notes
Perhaps its the contrast with the more flamboyant Beaumonts Bas cuvée, but the 2023 Echézeaux du Dessus Grand Cru, historically always the more demonstrative of Tremblay's two grands crus, is actually somewhat brooding and youthfully introverted, unwinding in the glass to reveal aromas of spiced plums and red berries mingled with notions of incense and blood orange. Full-bodied, deep and pure, it's satiny and layered, with ultra-refined tannins, lively acids and a long, mineral finish.

The 2023 Echézeaux Cuvée BB Grand Cru is a new cuvée that, as the name suggests, comes from Tremblay's new holding in Les Beaumonts Bas (which was declassified as a Vosne Premier Cru in 2022). This has a fine and lively bouquet of very pure black cherry, wild strawberry and iris flower. The palate is quite sweet and ripe on the entry with fine acidity. It is very harmonious through the pleasing, silky-smooth finish.
