From vines planted in the 1940s. Tank sample. Mid gold. Ripe apple, mirabelle and a touch of honey too. Just the briefest hint of a note of (positive) oxidation. Rounded, fresh, slightly waxy and concentrated. Excellent. (MH)
The 2023 Bourgogne Aligoté Auvonnes Au Pépé has a slightly reductive nose, with a mix of yellow fruit, melted candle wax and light fish scale scents. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, simple but fresh with a light pear and mandarin finish that needs more on the aftertaste—hence my score.
