Sleek and focused for a Beaune premier cru with mineral acidity and dried-flower delicacy. Still very youthful but with stunning elegance and vitality on the medium-bodied palate. Wonderful blood-orange freshness in the long, sleek finish. From a steep, east-facing slope with very thin, stony soil. From organically grown grapes. Drinkable now but best from 2026.

Aromas of cassis, orange zest, vine smoke and peonies introduce the 2023 Beaune 1er Cru Les Teurons, a medium to full-bodied, supple and fleshy wine with a textural core of fruit, lively acids and a suave, complete profile.

The 2023 Beaune Les Teurons 1er Cru was one of the first to be picked, on September 4. This has an open bouquet with lifted red cherry and wild strawberry scents and a little chalk dust in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with a pleasing sapid entry and gentle grip, perhaps just easing down the gears toward the finish to suggest this will be one of Bouchard's earlier drinking cuvées.

On the slope, all in limestone, an early site. Far from the deepest colour, with an upfront floral accessibility in bouquet, by no means a blockbuster on the palate, also quite juicy with dark liquid cherries, few tannins, not very high acidity, so a wine based around the fruit.
