Score 89/100 · Drink 1998-2006, Robert Parker, Jun 1994

In both 1992 and 1993 Gardine has made classic, full-bodied, rich wines with considerable extract and concentration. The 1992 is one of the most tannic, concentrated, intense wines I tasted from that vintage. In fact, most 1992 Chateauneuf du Papes are ready to drink, but Gardine's will benefit from 2-4 years of cellaring given its ferocious tannin level. A top-flight effort for the vintage, it possesses a saturated, dark ruby color, a fragrant, black-cherry, herb, leather, and toasty nose, full body, excellent concentration, and a long, spicy, closed finish.
