The 2022 Pinot Noir Op Die Berg comes from the Ceres plateau, aged for 12 months in French oak with 10% new, with 50% whole bunch. This works nicely on the nose, a mixture of red and black fruit, hints of fynbos and sous-bois. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannins, plenty of red plum and dark berries, though it needs a little more tartness and nervosité to really translate the variety on the finish. Not bad.
