Score 94/100 · Drink 2023-2038, Jeb Dunnuck, Nov 2022

The 2014 Champagne Grand Cru Ay is powerful and vinous. Composed of 80% Pinot Noir and the rest Chardonnay, it is assertive with ripe red fruit, Mirabel plum, and yellow flowers. It displays more broadness and richness through the palate, with some tannic structure, and has a light phenolic feel, with orange pith and savory salinity. Drink 2023-2038.

The 2014 Extra-Brut Ay Grand Cru bristles with tension. It’s a great choice for readers who enjoy focused Champagnes. Red cherry, mint, crushed rocks, white pepper, sage and dried herbs give this mid-weight nervy Champagne tons of aromatic presence. Deep veins of minerality and vibrant acids shape the persistent, driving finish. Dosage is 4 grams per liter. Disgorged: November, 2021.
