Score 87/100 · Drink 2026-2037, Neal Martin, Oct 2025
The 2021 Beaune Clos des Mouches 1er Cru has an endearing nose with cranberry, wild strawberry fruit and rose petal, yet it soon becomes apparent that there is some Brettanomyces. The palate is well balanced with crisp tannins, quite bright and citric, with veins of blood orange towards the bitter finish that shows some Brett again. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Aromas of raspberries, plums, orange zest and potpourri preface the 2021 Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches, a medium to full-bodied, pillowy and enveloping wine with a pretty core of fruit and powdery stem tannins that assert themselves on the gently structured finish.
