Tasting notes
Spicy black cherries, dried herbs, leather, and dried orange zest notes all shine in the 2022 Château Yon Figeac, a complex, floral, medium to full-bodied, balanced 2022 that has building tannins and outstanding length. Hide bottles for 4-6 years, and it should evolve nicely over the following 15. The blend is 85% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot, and the rest Cabernet Franc, from more sandy, clay soils, brought up in 30% new barrels.

The 2022 Yon-Figeac is missing fruit on the nose, which is perplexing given the vintage. The palate is medium-bodied with dry tannins, mealy texture and a bitter finish.
86% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot, 6% Cabernet Franc. Cask sample. Dense and impressive. Long and complete. (JR)
The shot of Petit Verdot in the blend I would normally say adds colour, but in this vintage all the grapes are small with thick skins, and the colour comes out no matter what. Majors on black pepper spice, with rosemary, cinnammon, slate, cocoa bean, intense dark fruits, clear vintage signature, but has balance, character and lift, with a mint leaf finish Alain Château owner, 24.25ha.
