Tasting notes
Rhône enthusiasts know how good the 2022 vintage is chez Sorrel, and the 2022 Hermitage is a superb rendition. Unfurling from the glass with aromas of violets, blackberries, smoke, spices, bay leaf and cedar, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and textured with structured yet delicate tannins with a fleshy texture that's refined, pure and mineral.

The 2022 Hermitage has closed down. Time in the glass gradually unlocks notes of ripe black fruit, graphite, crushed violet, stemmy subtleties and cedar nuances. Tight and firmly structured, the full-bodied 2022 imparts substantial flavor concentration and overall intensity. I suspect the ship to enjoy it in its youth has sailed, and lucky owners of it are required to wait until 2030 before pulling the cork. This is one of the sleepers of the vintage.
100% Marsanne. Piercing nose that is showing some honeyed notes and honeysuckle. There is real richness and power. Deep and intense and already appealing. For the warmest and driest vintage it has surprising appeal and delicacy. Textured and full yet with a sense of vibrancy on the finish. (AC)
