Tasting notes
Butterscotch and caramel are prominent signals of wood-ageing, accompanied on the nose by aromas of stone fruit and a hint of mandarin. On the palate the fruit is juicy, the texture generous, the acidity refreshing. Peach and grapefruit have their say, before nuances of aniseed and toast spell a return to the oaky theme. Quite well-balanced and great if you like oak on your Riesling. (MS)

The 2018 (Forster) Freundstück GG shows a pure, fresh and flinty bouquet that is still somewhat untamed but precise, piquant and coolish, with discreet fruit but striking terroir expression. On the palate, this is a medium to full-bodied, intense, juicy, well-concentrated and pretty charming Freundstück Riesling Grosses Gewächs with a silky-elegant texture and refined acidity. The finish is compact, dense, long and well structured and indicates remarkable aging potential. 12.5% alcohol. Tasted from AP 520 in April 2020.
