Tasting notes
A good value, the deep purple/ruby-hued 2018 Saint Joseph Deschants offers up plenty of Saint Joseph goodness in its smoky black fruits, pepper, violets, and damp earth-like aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied and elegant on the palate, with good acidity as well as beautiful fruit, drink this charming, undeniably delicious red over the coming 7-8 years.

Lively aromas of fresh black/blue fruits, olive and pungent flowers are complemented by a building mineral quality. Incisive boysenberry, bitter cherry and floral pastille flavors stain the palate and become sweeter and deeper with air. Rich but well-balanced and energetic, finishing with sharp detail and a lingering floral note shaped by smooth tannins. Aged in a mix of concrete tanks and oak barrels.
Black cherries and crushed-stone aromas are joined by blueberries and hints of cracked pepper in the 2018 Saint-Joseph Deschants. This is atypically full-bodied and concentrated for this cuvée, showing all the glory of the vintage, wrapped in soft, ripe tannins and lingering on the finish.
