La Mailloche has very degraded soils of Liassic clay, which tend to give a lot of bitterness to the wines, as I saw in the 2015 Arbois Chardonnay la Mailloche. The nose combines some floral notes with the nutty and spicy aromas, not super aromatic or expressive, rather more austere and serious. This is a wine that ages for two years in barrique with lees yet has no trace of oak, and it feels very pure and clean. The palate showed superb concentration and balance, mineral and fresh, surprisingly close to 15% alcohol, which goes completely unnoticed. 4,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in October 2017.

The compact 2015 Arbois Chardonnay La Mailloche displays pungent straw and dried apple components with a flicker of flint. Expressive and concentrated, the 2015 hits the full-bodied palate with a trace of bitterness and ends with impressive length on the sapid, gently nutty resolution.
