Tasting notes
Opaque ruby. Spice-accented aromas of black raspberry, violet and licorice, with a hint of smoky bacon in the background. Concentrated yet energetic as well, offering intense dark berry, floral pastille and black pepper flavors; a bracing jolt of minerality adds back-end cut. Fleshes out slowly and turns sweeter with air, showing excellent clarity and resonating florality on the long, gently tannic finish.

The 2019 Cornas is one hell of a base Cornas that should be snatched up by readers. Full-bodied, concentrated, and flawlessly balanced, with a texture like silk, it offers a kaleidoscope-like array of red and black fruits, tapenade, smoked game, black olive, and Asian spices. It’s a thrilling wine to enjoy over the coming two decades.
Bright and energetic on the fragrant nose, displaying lively black/blue fruit and floral scents that pick up olive and black pepper notes as the wine opens up. In a juicy, fruit-driven style, offering appealingly sweet cherry, blackberry and cassis flavors and suggestions of spicecake and cola. Finishes very long and smooth, with just a hint of fine-grained tannins and persistent spiciness.
