There is little on the nose of the 2019 Faizeau. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins and some substance, though it needs more definition and freshness on the finish.
The 2019 Faizeau certainly makes a statement. Blackberry jam, bittersweet chocolate, new leather, licorice, spice and scorched earth blast across the palate. Heady and richly textured, the 2019 just needs time to come together. The tannins are quite imposing at this stage. Faizeau has come together impressively.
Full bottle 1,341 g. Blackish garnet. Intensely ripe nose. But not too sweet and with quite a bit of tension. There's just a tiny sensation of something charred on the end but overall it's a success with acidity a little more prominent than the tannins but it should provide considerable pleasure in the medium term.
