Perfumed, floral red and blue fruits as well as some spicy nuances all emerge from the 2021 Château De Lamarque, a medium-bodied, elegant, pretty 2021 that has good purity of fruit, just a touch of firmer tannins, and a good finish. It's well-made, balanced, and will offer pleasure over the coming decade. The blend is 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and the rest a mix of permitted varieties. Tasted twice with consistent results.

The 2021 Château de Lamarque has quite an upfront bouquet with macerated black cherries, cedar and licorice. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins and a little leafiness underlying the carapace of black fruit toward the finish. It just seems to miss a little depth and the usual complexity I have come to expect from this estate.
The 2021 de Lamarque is a plump, juicy Haut-Médoc to drink now and over the next handful of years. Succulent dark plum, new leather, cloves, licorice and a kiss of French oak add to the wine's forward character. All this needs is a bit more polish in the tannins.
The 2021 Lamarque exhibits aromas of minty berries, orange peel and spices, followed by a medium-bodied, fleshy and polished palate with a sweet core of fruit framed by powdery tannins. It will offer pleasurable drinking on release.
