The 2018 Beaune 1er Cru Les Boucherottes (Domaine des Héritiers Jadot) wafts from the glass with scents of cherries, ripe berries, sweet spices and plums. Medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy, it's one of the more overtly ripe, heady wines in the range this year.

The 2018 Beaune Boucherottes 1er Cru fights off a bit of reduction on the nose to reveal a mélange of red and black fruit, oyster shell and lavender aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with confit-like black fruit, fine acidity. Sweet and tinged with fig and cassis toward the seductive if rather simplistic finish. Just an enjoyable Beaune Premier Cru.
Towards the southern tip of Beaune, Les Boucherottes is an 8.5-ha vineyard with deep clay soils. Baked cherries and blueberry on the nose here. Full bodied and heady on the palate, with quite a soft, supple palate. Ample and generous rather than elegant. (TP)
