Aromas of blackberries and blueberries and some asphalt and hot-stone character. Medium body with a pretty core of berries and licorice. Firm finish. A blend of merlot, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and petit verdot. Needs time to open up. Try after 2020.
The 2016 Rolland de By is full of character. A whole range of savory and earthy notes add nuance to this expressive Cru Bourgeois. Powerful and deep, with tons of Cabernet Sauvignon character, Rolland de By has a lot to offer in a hearty, pleasantly rustic style that is well suited to the dinner table.
The 2016 Rollan de By has a tightly wound bouquet with layers of blackberry, bilberry, cedar and light crushed stone aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crisp acidity, finely proportioned with a crisp bead of acidity. This is a slightly more classically styled Rollan de By with a lovely pencil shaving tinged finish that keeps you coming back for more. Excellent.
