Score 88/100 · Drink 2018-2022, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2017
Good medium red. Slightly high-toned scents of cherry, red licorice, pepper and herbs. Juicy, spicy and high-pitched, in a very fresh, herbal style with lovely cutting acidity and length. Finishes with fine-grained tannins. Jean-Pierre Cournut maintains that this wine takes on volume after some time in a decanter or at room temperature, and that its "distinct point of acidity will also soften." The tannins are nicely fine-grained for the vintage but the wine could use a bit more nuance.
