Score 93/100 · Drink 2022-2042, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Feb 2019

Accommasso's 2012 Barolo is quite attractive. Tart cherry, tobacco, cedar and dried flowers are all nicely layered. There is more than enough brightness and overall energy to allow the 2012 to age well for many years to come. I would prefer to cellar the 2012 for at least a few years, as the tannins are gritty and in need of bottle age to soften. This pleasantly rustic and expressive Barolo will appeal to readers who enjoy traditionally made wines.

The Accomasso name is the stuff of legend. A one-man operation, this tiny property in La Morra has developed a cult following. Now in his 90s, Lorenzo Accomasso’s Barolos are ultra-traditional, made with minimal intervention and rudimentary equipment – prized by a loyal and dedicated following.
