A powerful nose, a ton of fruit evident from the first moment, and a limestone character that transcends all else. Full of the things that I love that about La Serre - finesse, character, blackberry and blueberry fruits, liquorice, sweet spices, cold ash smoke on the finish. The creamy texture that you find in 2015 is back in abundance with this vintage, and it's an enticing wine with width and depth, softly spoken at first but builds in power through the palate, and has an excellent flinty character and a tannic grip that closes things in through the finish at this stage, but that will help it age for decades. The gourmet character of the vintage playing with mineral side of the site, and it's just gorgeous. First vintage in the new cellar. 50% new oak. Stéphane Toutoundji consults.

The 2018 La Serre has a gorgeous, pure bouquet of vibrant wild strawberry and cranberry fruit, very well defined with neatly integrated new oak. The palate is silky-smooth on the entry. There is beautifully judged acidity and impressive depth with hints of dark chocolate toward the finish. This is a wonderful Saint-Émilion that comes highly recommended. As I said before, a hidden gem.

This estate continues to produce a brilliant Saint-Emilion. The 2018 Château La Serre is based on 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, all from the upper plateau and clay and limestone soils. Its saturated purple hue is followed by a ripe, polished, medium to full-bodied wine with beautiful cassis fruits, succulent aromas and flavors of tobacco, chocolate, and lead pencil, sweet tannins, and a great mix of elegance and richness. It's a beautiful wine that will evolve gracefully for 15-20 years.

The 2018 La Serre is composed of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, it reveals earthy scents of tilled soil, black truffles and crushed rocks with a core of warm plums, baked black cherries and mulberries, plus a touch of rose petals. The medium-bodied, delicately played palate has bags of poise, featuring earth-laced black fruits and a soft texture, finishing refreshing.
