Tasting notes
A solid, well-made Margaux, the 2023 Château Paveil De Luze offers ripe red and black fruits, melted crayon, violets, and spicy, smoky oak on the nose. Based on 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot from sandy and gravelly soils and aged 12 months in 30% new French oak, it's medium-bodied on the palate, with a pure, nicely balanced mouthfeel and a good finish. It needs 2-3 years to integrate its oak and will evolve nicely over the following decade. Drink 2028-2036.

The 2023 Paveil de Luze is super attractive right out of the gate. Crushed flowers, spice, cedar and mint lend tons of aromatic nuance. This gracious, mid-weight Cru Bourgeois is all finesse. There's plenty of Margaux class here.
Cru bourgeois exceptionnel. 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot on deep gravel. Aged for 1 year in oak barrels. Deep crimson. Sweet like blackcurrant compote. Stands out in this line-up. Tannins are firm, polished and the wine is complete. Excellent example of cru bourgeois and well-priced bordeaux. Lightish in the middle but good length and freshness. (JH)
