The 2018 Esprit De Pavie is more juicy and lively, with a beautiful, texturized, medium-bodied, elegant profile. Ripe red and black fruits, savory herbs, spice, and subtle truffle notes all shine, and it's medium-bodied, with a pure, layered, elegant profile that's incredibly easy to drink. Drink 2025-2030.

The 2018 Esprit de Pavie is a blend of 65% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep garnet-purple colored, it leaps from the glass with bright, cheery notes of Morello cherries, black raspberries and fresh wild blueberries, plus hints of tobacco leaf, underbrush and potpourri with a waft of Chinese five spice. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers mouth-filling black fruit flavors with a chewy texture and just enough freshness, finishing just a tad rustic.

The 2018 Esprit de Pavie feels over-the-top and picked too late. The nose is almost overpowering in terms of fruit, and Mediterranean in style. The palate is sweet and soft, very confit and missing tension and energy toward the flat-footed finish. I prefer the 2017 Esprit de Pavie.

Coming from a blend of Saint-Émilion and Castillon grapes, the 2018 Esprit De Pavie reveals a deeper ruby color as well as juicy notes of black cherries, tobacco, and earth, with just a touch of violets. It's medium to full-bodied, rounded, beautifully textured, and undeniably delicious.
