Tasting notes
Barolo. Just mid ruby. Multi-layered nose of raspberry, cranberry and garden herbs with hints of mace. Elegant palate weight and light, savoury raspberry fruit. Lots of sandy tannins. Lacks a little in vigour for this cru. Very light fruit imprint on the finish. (WS)

Taking a deeper shade of ruby red, the 2020 Barolo Cannubi is expressive on the nose, with ripe red cherries, a hint of cola spice, pressed roses, and fresh rosemary. Medium-bodied, it has very nice, even balance on the palate, with refined tannins and even acidity leading into a savory and earthy finish. It’s very nicely detailed and will do well over the next 12-15 years.
The Poderi Luigi Einaudi 2020 Barolo Cannubi has a delicate and fine approach with redcurrant, fine fruit, blue flower, crushed stone and crushed curry leaf. There is a savory hint of dried tobacco leaf as well. The Cannubi is fine and finessed throughout, although you do get some of the character of the hot vintage with a tiny splash of extra concentration or thickness. Production is 12,673 bottles.
The 2020 Barolo Cannubi is a young, promising wine. It shows terrific depth in the understated style of the year. Crushed flowers, cedar, tobacco, licorice and dried herbs fill out the layers effortlessly. Pliant and expressive, the Cannubi is super-classy, not to mention a pleasure to taste.
