Score 92/100 · Drink 1990-2000, Robert Parker, Jan 1990

I thought Jacques Seysses' best wine in 1987 was his superb Clos St.-Denis. Most people would take this wine for a 1985 rather than a 1987. Its fabulous bouquet of plums, ground beef, soy sauce, exotic spices, and new oak makes for a superb impression. This is followed by an explosively fruity, ripe, rich wine with long flavors and a finish that seems to last for several minutes. Typical for a 1987, it is supple and shows good acidity, but not much tannin. It should be at its best between now and the turn of the century.
