All Grenache from sandy soils, the 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape Père Pape is a much more perfumed, upfront 2022 that has sweet red fruits (strawberries, framboise), sappy garrigue, spring flowers, and crushed stone-like minerality. I love its elegance. and it’s medium-bodied, with a pure, seamless mouthfeel and fine tannins. It’s going to shine for a solid 10-12 years. This cuvée comes from the Les Bédines and Bois Dauphin lieux-dits and was partially destemmed and spent 20 months in clay terracotta jars and larger foudre. There are just over 300 cases produced.

A blend of 70% Grenache Noir, 15% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre, 3% Cinsault and 2% Counoise, the 2022 Châteauneuf du Pape from Clos du Calvaire, macerated for 25 days and destemmed, reveals a complex, deep bouquet of red berries, spices, flowers and garrigue. Medium to full-bodied, sappy and enrobing, fleshy and dense, it's perfectly balanced with chewy tannins and a long, delicate finish. Matured for 12 months in foudres (70%) and stainless steel (30%), this is a great effort.

A varietal Grenache that aged for 20 months in a 50-50 mix of foudres and terracotta jars, the 2022 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Père Pape initiates with fragrant rosewater, ripe strawberry, garrigue and a pinch of licorice. Hitting the full-bodied palate with sweet-tasting fruit, the 2022 possesses sleek tannins. A full-throttle red Châteauneuf-du-Pape that doesn’t go overboard, it maintains spot-on balance all the way through to the refined finish.

The 2022 Châteauneuf du Pape Père Pape is still floral, like the traditional bottling, but with bigger raspberry fruit. Is it any better? Maybe it will show more with additional age. It's full-bodied and intense, with a long, silky finish.
