Tasting notes
Bright, saturated ruby. Mute but pure aromas of cassis and black raspberry. Dense, sweet and primary, with a concentrated if youthfully simple flavor of cassis. Cleanly made, primary and focused. Finishes bright, firmly tannic and young, with intriguing spice and pepper notes. This offers very good material for extended aging.

Notes of smoky oak can be discerned in the shy, spirit-laced aromatics of the 2003 Offley Boa Vista Vintage Port. A broad, thick, lush wine, it requires air to integrate its acidity and tannin with its copious quantities of candied red as well as black fruits. Drink it between 2018 and 2028. Very dark crimson. Stickily sweet but with some tea leaf on the nose. Very big and opulent but with much more obvious acidity than some of this style. Lacks real core to draw it all together. Awkward. (JR)
