Guido Porro’s 2019 Barolo Vigna S. Caterina is bright and nicely focused throughout. Crushed red berry fruit, orange peel, cinnamon, mint and dried herbs are all finely delineated. The 2019 is persistent and vibrant, with a sense of youthful, classical austerity that is quite appealing.

Pale crimson. Sautéed plums on the nose. Very sweet palate entry with an interesting floral top note. Distinctive wine that could be broached reasonably soon. A certain dustiness of texture. (JR)
