Tasting notes
This is very floral with dried roses and dark fruits. This is very muscular and structured and rich. Yet, it finishes refined and fresh. A lovely combination of dark fruits, cedar, walnuts and berries. Drink or hold.

The 2005 Reserva from an outstanding vintage displays a classy perfume of spice box, cedar, leather, violets, and assorted black fruits. Dense, layered, and plush on the palate, in the glass it is intense, impeccably balanced, and lengthy. Give it 3-4 years to fill out and drink it through 2020+. Bodegas Roda is one of the quality leaders in Rioja. They have embarked on a couple of new projects, the first being the production of an entry-level Rioja named Sela. The second new Roda project is the development of two wines from Ribera del Duero made from100% Tempranillo. Both 2009s were barrel samples but impressive nevertheless. Ruby-red. Intense aromas of raspberry, candied cherry and spicecake; smells like a ripe pinot. Supple and creamy, with a strong spicy quality to the concentrated raspberry and floral flavors. Finishes with sweet tannins and excellent raspberry-tinged length.
