Tasting notes
The 2020 Rosso Magma is pure elegance. It seduces the senses with a bouquet that opens savory and earthy with grilled herbs and stone, further evolving to reveal crushed black raspberries and cloves. A hint of candied citrus elevates its ripe red and dark blue fruits, underscored by a subtle suggestion of balsamic spice. The 2020 finishes dramatically long and youthfully tense, leaving crunchy tannins and a staining of primary concentration that penetrates deeply. There's a massive amount of power beneath the surface here, but the 2020 is currently in a youthfully backward state.

The Frank Cornelissen 2020 Sicilia Nerello Mascalese Vigna Barbabecchi Magma is a creative and original wine that is a lot of fun to drink and dissect. Fruit comes from a vineyard site at about 1,000 meters in elevation above the Contrada Rampante. This 2.5-hectare site was planted in 1910, and more than half of the fruit goes toward this production. The wine offers ample richness and volume with dark berry, campfire ash, grilled herb and cola.
