The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos Saint-Marc 1er Cru has a light, slightly tertiary bouquet of brambly dark berry fruit and leather that improves in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit and fine delineation. Crisp and vibrant with a touch of piquancy toward the finish. Not powerful, but well-crafted and poised. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.

The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos St Marc 1er Cru, which is the domaine 's monopole of just under a hectare, contains the same amount of whole bunch fruit as the Clos des Argillières and yet its presence is completely disguised. The fruit here is a little redder on the nose, showing touches of bay leaf and rose petals. The palate is medium-bodied with insistent grip on the entry. This feels quite chalky in texture, not quite as harmonious as the Clos des Argillières, but with more thrust toward the finish. This is another excellent 2017 from Rion.
