Tasting notes
A blend of 74% Zinfandel, 12% Petite Sirah, 9% Carignan, and the rest Alicante Bouschet, the 2020 Three Valleys offers some smoky darker fruits as well as peppery herbs and earthy nuances. Medium-bodied on the palate, it has juicy acidity, plenty of up-front fruit, and a touch of savory, drying tannins. It offers pleasure today and I would drink bottles in their youth. While many of these wines fall outside the “Central Coast,” I was able to taste a full lineup from Ridge and am happy to include these wines here. Going forward, the Sonoma releases will be covered by my colleague, Audrey Frick.
