Score 89-91/100 · Drink 2020-2033, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Dec 2017
The 2016 Pommard 1er Cru Les Epenots includes 30% whole cluster with 40% new French oak. This was more introverted and did not quite deliver the same harmony as the other premier cru Pommards at this early stage. The palate is edgy on the entry with good structure, the oak nicely subsumed with a grippy, slightly hard-edged finish that will be abraded down during its élevage. I will remain cautious for now, but I am sure it will meliorate with time.
