Vivid ruby. Mineral-accented cherry and black raspberry aromas show excellent clarity and building spiciness. Deeply concentrated but racy as well, offering sharply focused dark berry and bitter cherry flavors that take a sweeter turn with aeration. Silky tannins frame the finish, which features resonating cherry character and a hint of allspice. (JR)

The 2016 Brouilly is a more delicate, finer-boned wine than its 2017 counterpart, and while it can’t compete with the latter’s fruit-driven hedonism, it’s a superb wine, unfurling in the glass with notes of dried rose petal, cassis, plums and cherry pit. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, supple and ample, with melting tannins, juicy acids and a sapid, mineral finish.
