Tasting notes
Dense garnet, with a nose of walnut husks, toasted black pepper, sour cherries and ash. Smooth and soft on the palate, with a full body and ripe, silky tannins balanced by zesty acidity. Lovely fruit with an extremely long, nutty aftertaste. Very attractive. Drink now.

The 2018 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva Sergio Zenato takes the finesse and airy lift of the vintage and marries it with the opulence of the Zenato style. Sweet spices, incense, sugar-dusted cherries, cloves and mint form a seductive bouquet. It’s surprisingly feminine and juicy in character, with a core of tart wild berry fruits complicated by hints of cedar and rosy inner florals that form toward the close. The 2018 finishes spicy and long, with only the slightest tug of fine tannins and a pleasantly tart sensation that puckers the cheeks. This is an atypical Riserva Sergio Zenato, yet it's no less enjoyable. That said, I would prefer to drink it sooner rather than later.
