Tasting notes
The Reyneke 2022 Stellenbosch Reserve Sauvignon Blanc shows a slightly spicy side with ginger root, gooseberry and Bartlett pear. The ensemble is all very bright and balanced, although the wine remains quite restrained and elegant in terms of mouthfeel. There is a touch of almond or sweet nut that gives a little more depth and texture on the close. It ferments and ages in oak, with 10 months on the lees. Production this vintage is 3,000 bottles.

The 2022 White Reserve is a selection of the best barrels, which tend to come from two specific parcels on the farm. This will be the last vintage of this cuvée. It has a malic nose of Granny Smiths mixed with damp loamy scents, finely delineated and quite understated. The palate is well balanced, with the 60% new oak neatly integrated and imparting a subtle creamy texture. It coheres wonderfully on the finish, with hints of Clementine and melon surfacing with aeration. Lovely.
