Score 81/100 · Drink 1996-2004, Robert Parker, Feb 1997
The 1994 La Tour-Martillac's dark ruby/purple color suggests ripeness and decent extract, but aromatically this wine provides little interest. It is completely closed, compact, and hard on the palate, with only a hint of sweet fruit. The finish consists of astringent tannin, acidity, wood, and alcohol. I am not sure this wine will last over the long haul, but I feel there is more to it than it is displaying at present.
