Score 88/100 · Drink 2018-2021, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Feb 2017

Veglio's 2013 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata opens with enticing aromatics, but the palate feel is a bit compressed by the French oak. The new oak also brings out a darker, bolder side of this great La Morra site. As Veglio's top Barolo, the Rocche gets the highest percentage of new barrels, but that tends to mask some of the vineyard's natural tendency towards finesse and also accelerate aging.
