Tasting notes
Inky ruby. A heady, highly complex bouquet evokes dark fruit liqueur, incense and floral pastille qualities, along with notes of smoked meat and star anise. Sweet and deeply concentrated yet lively, offering sappy, spice-tinged cassis and boysenberry flavors that gain energy with air. Velvety tannins frame the sappy fruit on an extremely long, smoky finish.

A bolder and more assertive St Joseph from Cuilleron with more oak-derived, exotic and fragrant spices as well as dark chocolate and rich dark plum fruits. The palate has plush, flavor-drenched tannins that deliver a succulently appealing
(raised in new and used barriques for 18 months) Dark purple. Smoke- and pepper-accented black and blue fruit aromas pick up suggestions of candied licorice, violet and star anise with aeration. Sweet and expansive on the palate, offering intense, mineral-laced cassis, bitter cherry and floral pastille flavors that smoothly combine richness and vivacity. Shows excellent clarity and floral lift on the finish, which features building tannins and an emphatic echo of smoky minerals and peppery spices.
Tasting like the blood of Syrah with its liquid blackberry, violets, flowers and peppery aromas and flavors, Yves' 2015 Saint Joseph les Serines is medium to full-bodied, seamless and silky, with high-quality tannin and a great finish. This cuvée comes from multiple terroirs and will spend 18 months in 40% new French oak.
