Medium red. Slightly decadent aromas of strawberry, redcurrant, smoke and earth. Then sweet, vinous and deep, in a distinctly ripe style but with surprising energy to leaven its thick red fruit flavors. Finishes with dusty tannins and very good juicy length. Seems every bit as fresh as the 2010.

The 2009 Barolo shows a steady progression of cherry, blackberry and tar followed by very clean and polished tones of licorice, tar and crushed mineral. The wine’s dark consistency and medium body bode well for five years of aging or more. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2023. Various American Importers, including: De Grazia Imports, Republic; MO; tel. Renato Corino's 2009 Barolo emerges from the glass with sweet dried cherries, crushed flowers, licorice, spices and tobacco. A relatively soft, accessible Barolo, the 2009 has good balance and length. Sweet floral notes add lift on the finish. The firm 2009 tannins are present, but they soften up with time in the glass as the wine gains brightness and definition. Corino's straight Barolo has one of the rare qualities found in the 2009s; you want to drink the entire bottle. The Barolo was made predominantly from vineyards in La Morra, with a little bit of Serralunga fruit.
