Tasting notes
Lustrous ruby with orange tinges. Dramatic, deep nose of raspberry fruit with a note of white pepper and minerally, earthy hints. Great complexity on the nose. Lush, juicy concentrated raspberry fruit anchored in a thick layer of finely ground tannins. Still very youthful and energetic. (WS)

Sourced from only the south-facing portion of the vineyard, the estate holds the Barolo Ginestra back an extra year in bottle before release, with a minimum of 18 months in bottle. The 2019 Barolo Ginestra lifts with compact notes of raspberry liqueur, pressed flowers, sweet berries, candied fruit licorice, and fresh rosemary. Medium-bodied, it has a tenser, more compact structure, speaking to the vintage with grippy ripe tannins, a long, mouthwatering finish, and good ripeness throughout. It has a more chiseled feel but remains pure. Drink it over the coming 20 years.
The 2019 Barolo Ginestra opens with very pretty, enticing aromatics. Overall the 2019 feels both soft and forward for this site, always a challenging vineyard to work with. The 2019 is attractive, but also a touch forward. Tobacco, crushed flowers, cedar and dried fruit.
