Tasting notes
The 2009 Meursault 1er Cru Blagny La Genelotte is more timorous on the nose compared to the 2010, but no less complex, with tightly wound scents of dried yellow flowers and red apples. The palate sits somewhere in between Meursault and Puligny in style, a hint of hazelnut here, stoniness becoming more pronounced toward the finish, which demonstrates very fine length. These wines were tasted with Laurent Martelet at the domaine, following a complete run through his nascent 2012s. While there was no wine that really took my breath the way, nor did they really convince me that they are pre-destined for longevity, there was a satisfying consistency throughout his small portfolio – very competently crafted wines that seem reliable and true.
