Tasting notes
The 2007 Chianti Classico Riserva comes as quite sensual and round. Sweet dark cherries, spices and flowers meld together nicely in this open, radiant Riserva. Hints of tobacco, cedar and leather add complexity on the soft finish.

90% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo. 2007 was an excellent year, the high sugar content and the good acidity level being the first unequivocal signs. The fermentation lasted for 18 days, with daily pumping over. A year in French oak. Very authentic shaded crimson. Pretty tamed by the French quercus. Lovely fruit but a wine that rather splits the difference between Tuscany and Bordeaux. Purists may prefer the Torre Gena or Colli Senese. Some sweetness but great intentions. This wine has its best bib and tucker on. (JR)
