Score 92/100 · Drink 2017-2020, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Sep 2017
The 1999 Forster Kirchenstück Riesling Trocken GC—tasted April 2015—has a bright and intense bouquet of rather white fruit aromas and yellow apples along with nutty flavors. Full-bodied and elegant, with good intensity and ripe peach flavors, this is still a fresh and finessed Kirchenstück. However, it lacks the complexity and inner power of the great 2010. The 1999 is more focused on the fruit, which is ripe and concentrated and rather reminiscent of pâté de fruit rather than fresh fruits. The finish is intense and nervy-mineral but also slightly drying. Drink soon.
