The 2018 Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru has the most stoic and terse nose of Dugat’s three Grand Crus, yet it is still compelling and gradually reveals pressed rose petals and incense. The palate is wonderfully structured, the firm backbone supporting the weight of red berry fruit laced with raspberry preserve, fig and a touch of black pepper. Very fine.

One of the wines of the vintage this year is the 2018 Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru, a stunning achievement that soars from the glass with captivating aromas of rose petals, peonies, orange rind, wild berries and smoked tea. On the palate, it's full-bodied, velvety and textural, with a deep, multidimensional and ineffably complete core, terrific concentration, and a long, vibrant and perfumed finish. Like all the best 2018s, this Griotte captures the inherent plenitude of the vintage while remaining integrated and dynamic, and it has a long and glorious future ahead of it.
Pure, airy and elegant essence of red cherry, raspberry and spice-inflected aromas serve as a beautifully layered introduction to the impressively intense and delineated middle weight plus flavors that deliver outstanding persistence on the super-saline finish. This highly complex if very firm effort is a complete knockout and if you can find, and afford, it, don't hesitate. This is, in a word, superb. 93-96
