2018 Charmes Chambertin

The 2018 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru contains 70% whole cluster, removed by hand. It has a very concentrated bouquet of confit-like red fruit, although the whole bunches do not feel as well integrated as some of its peers. The palate is ripe and showy with sweet red fruit, quite candied in style and just missing some tension and complexity on the finish. Not bad, but I think Thibault Liger-Belair has overseen superior versions in the past.
