Tasting notes
The 2019 Couvent des Jacobins has quite a high-toned bouquet, floral, black cherries, sloes and blueberry, very perfumed and outgoing in style. The palate is fleshy and quite extracted, but a green note nags away on the finish. This is rather vexing, given a very promising showing after bottling. Tasted blind at the Southwold annual tasting.

Tasted blind. Bright, vigorous fruit on the nose. Rather soft fruit without much structure. Easy-peasy. (JR)
The top 2019 Couvent Des Jacobins is deep ruby/purple-hued and gives up a solid perfume of spiced black cherries, mulberries, dried herbs, tobacco, and iron. It's medium-bodied on the palate, has solid tannins, good overall balance, and outstanding length. It's a solid, thoroughly enjoyable 2019 to drink over the coming 10-15 years.
