2018 Remirez de Ganuza Reserva

Aged up to 25 months in barrel, 60% new, the 2018 Reserva is built on Tempranillo with 6% Graciano, 2% Garnacha and 10% Viura from the Sonsierra. Slightly liqueur-like black fruit leads the nose, with plum and maraschino cherry framed by oak and a balsamic herbal note. On the palate, it feels dry and broad, sustained by dark fruit depth and polished tannins through the mid-palate. The finish is tightened by a touch of chalk, as in the best Sonsierra wines. A classic Rioja seen through a more fruit-forward, contemporary lens.
