Score 90/100 · Drink 2022-2035, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Jul 2020

Tightly wound after its recent bottling, the 2018 Chablis 1er Cru Butteaux exhibits aromas of crisp orchard fruit, citrus oil and struck match. Medium to full-bodied, tensile and delicate, I suspect it will flesh out considerably after a year or two.

The 2018 Chablis Butteaux 1er Cru is tightly wound and full of energy, which make it hard to taste today, but are probably good for the future. Slate, dried pear, mint and mineral notes abound. The question is really whether or not the 2018 will show more flesh from bottle. Today, it is a bit airy, but quite enticing just the same.
